Cancellation/Change Appt Policy:

It is office policy to make scheduling as convenient as possible by offering lunchtime, daytime, and late evening appointments.   With advance notice, every effort is made to accommodate a change request.   Please give as much notice as possible for rescheduling. Your time is being reserved out of a busy office schedule and last minute changes affect the practitioner and other clients on the waitlist for appts.   Thank you in advance for respecting and honoring the policy listed below:

A $45 fee applies if an appointment is cancelled or changed with less than 48 hours notice.

Same day cancellations and missed appointments will be billed at the regular treatment rate.

No charge for inclement weather cancellations, severe illness cancellations (most minor illnesses will benefit from acupuncture treatment) or emergencies (such as death in the family, ER visit, etc.)  In the case of a rare inclement weather office closure, the office will be in touch with you to reschedule.

Insurance Discounts:

Lisa is a preferred provider with the following insurance companies, and offers the discounted rate listed for those paying out of pocket.  (Please note this a courtesy discount; the insurance companies do not reimburse any amount to the provider.)  No paperwork is required for this discount:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield;  Premera Blue Cross
  • Harvard Pilgrim Health Care
  • United Health Care
  • Cigna
  • Aetna

If you do not see your plan listed, please contact the office as new plans may be added soon.

Insurance Reimbursement Coverage:

Some health insurance companies and plans offer acupuncture coverage, and this is expected to increase in the future.  At this time there is no standard coverage, so coverage varies greatly across plans.  Please contact your insurance company to ask if they offer acupuncture reimbursement.  In some cases a claim can be submitted directly on your behalf and you will be responsible for payment of  co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles.   In other cases you will pay in full for your treatment and receive a “Superbill” to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.    Please note that any information given by your insurance company is not a guarantee of payment.  If your coverage is denied for any reason you are still responsible for payment.

If you would like to submit a claim to your insurance company, please contact the office prior to your first appointment so that we can confirm your benefits.  We would like to make the process as smooth as possible. (Please note that full rates are billed to insurance companies. The discounted rate is designed to make acupuncture more affordable for those paying out of pocket.)

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA):

Acupuncture is covered under most Flexible Spending Plans. Most flex spending credit cards are accepted, and you will receive a receipt that you can submit to your plan.  For clients who use acupuncture regularly, it is advised to plan ahead to allow enough visits for your maintenance or wellness care.
